to recap yesterday, I met up with family and we enjoyed Acadia NP. for the 1st time visitors they found it confusing, poorly signed and crowded. the line to get parking tags went out the door to the top of the 52 steps you climb to reach the visitors center. Apparently the good press recently has created better demand. we brought our own fun and have good memories and I personally took a 4 hour walk up to the top of Penobscot mountain which only required searching for parking for about 5 minutes much farther down the road from Jordan pond. take away - always visit early before the crowds scare off the birds. :)
