today is a special day, Zambias Golden Jubilee anniversary of independence. For me it has been a day to remember very strong childhood memories of life in Zambia 1968-71, experiences that have helped shaped my life and political views as well as pure fond memories of places, people, holidays, school, wildlife, copper mines, Victoria Falls and so much more. Above all, I acknowledge the life and work of First President Kenneth Kaunda, one of the truly great men of Africa - I hope he has celebrated well today and been cared for by his people, he more then anyone deserves this respect and attention. He shaped a nation that was warm, generous, industrious and energetic. Today I wish President Kaunda and all my Zambian friends a Happy Independence Day :)
