today we talk about Asian middle aged men and their problems with youngsters at most of the Samajs (Societies) in Kenya. Here is a typical example of one scenario, a guy is talking to a girl at a samaj gathering, (nothing constitutionally wrong about it) when suddenly he gets roughed up by ten to twenty men who are roughly in between the age of 50 to the age of 70. the girl also gets roughed up by ladies who are in the same age group as the men. (both acts that are very against the constitution) Here is where the problem lies, A village in India has no proper law in order and community elders there are the judges, the law makers and the law enforcers. laws in the village are made by the community elders and although this is illegal, the Indian government does not want to take too much strict action on it because of upsetting sensitive societies and causing an uproar. when these elders migrate to another country, they tend to feel like Samaj (society) are no different than their villages in India. they treat a samaj as a structure like they would treat their village back in India. they enforce the same rules that they would enforce back in their village. they would waste no time in ganging up on someone who may have broken their medieval laws and physically assaulting them in front of other onlookers, mostly youth who seem to know that what is happening is wrong but tend not to go against the tide. These elders think along the lines that within a samaj gathering compound, there is no other law but their law... Here is what the victims of this oppression by these self appointed Vigilante of the society need to know, You as a citizen should NOT take such kind of bullshit from anyone. if you do not go against the tide, what are you expecting to change? be aware (always) of the fact that the samaj you go to can not exercise a rule or a law that goes against the constitution of the country you belong to. nobody has the right to deny you your basic human rights such as freedom of speech and the freedom of expression. i am not saying that you outright disrespect the place where you are at but if you are respecting, take NO disrespect from anyone in return. Nobody has the right to rough you up if you are talking to a girl in ANY samaj in this country. if this happens, go to the police station and file a harassment case. a lot of youth do not easily take this step for fear of being isolated and being outlawed by their community but then again you are much better off WITHOUT being in the community IF the community you are in abuses your fundamental rights at every step of your life. Samaj (society) is made by us humans, yet we the very humans who made it suffer because of it. this in no way criticizes all samaj (society) it merely criticizes any rules in the samaj (society) that go against the countrys law. no matter how many rules or laws you impose as an elder in a samaj (society), you need to be aware that as long as the samaj (society) you are busy making laws for is on Kenyan soil, it HAS to follow the constitution just like anyone else. if it fails to follow those laws, it has to face the consequences like anyone else. whether you like it or not. never be afraid to question the ill morality and the shady laws of a society, you and me are the people who made the society. we can not let what we made give us bullshit.
