tonight, one of OP Grand Openings band coming back! You must remember how packed we were on Nov.13th & how amazing this band: Gadjo Station ----Gypsy Jazz, Swing Music band. Featuring : Steve Umehara (Double Bass) David Wright (Rhythm Guitar/Vocals) Antoine Richard (Lead Guitar/Vocals) Gadjo Station is a collective of musician who play Gypsy Jazz. Featuring Guitars, Sax, Clarinet, Vocals, Double Bass and occasionally Snare Drum. Our bands name forms from the Romani word for a non-Romani person called Gadjo. Since we are a group of musicians coming from a diversified background, Hong Kong, France, Japan, England, Canada, among other places in the world, but none of us are actual Romani gypsies. This music that we play has its roots in traditional Romani, Eastern European and American Blues/Jazz. We have also performed at many diversified venues around Hong Kong and Macau, We recently had a crossover concert with a French choir at the Fringe Club. We were also invited to perform at the residents of the Chief Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR, during Le French May this year. Since our music is a lively and energetic Jazz based style, all fitted fo Swing Dancing, we also try to incorporate other popular contemporary songs into our repertoire to have a modern edge to it.
