#tristatewx February 7, 2014: Good evening (well, it is almost evening). I have some new data concerning tonights snow potential. Also watching Sunday night and Mondays snow potential. GREAT news is that we should not be in the single digits tonight. :) Pretty bad when the good news will be lows in the teens vs single digits. I posted some information on snow ratios in my previous forecast update. I will link you to that discussion in the comment section below. Lets get to the weekend forecast :) Tonight - light snow possible (esp tip of southern IL and western KY - western TN). A dusting to a couple of inches possible. Best chance for accumulating snowfall will be near the KY/TN border. But, a light coating of snow would be possible elsewhere, as well. The snow will taper to the north of Metropolis/Vienna. Mt Vernon and Marion, IL may not see much at all from this system. Some flakes in the air possible. Overnight lows will be in the teens with rising temperatures towards the morning hours - rising into the 20s. Saturday - Roads should improve through the late morning and afternoon hours (assuming there is some snow on them from the overnight potential) More clouds than sun. Some morning light snow or flurries. Temperatures may actually rise above freezing near the Land Between the Lakes region and east of there. Although if they end up with a couple of inches of snow that will hold temperatures down a tad. Highs in the upper 20s and lower 30s. South winds at 10 mph. Saturday night - a few clouds. Not as cold as recent days. Lows in upper teens into the lower 20s. Southwest winds at 5-10 mph. Sunday - increasing clouds. A small chance for snow during the afternoon. Highs in the 30s. South winds at 5 mph. I am watching Sunday night into Monday for the potential of another weather maker - snow perhaps. Low confidence on where it tracks. Will post some maps below in the comment section...
