#tristatewx Hope everyone enjoyed this amazing spring afternoon! Lot of bees buzzing about. Forecast for southern Illinois and western Kentucky... Focus of rain chances will be Friday and then again Sunday night/Monday morning. Line of showers/storms likely late Sunday night into the morning hours of Monday. I know a lot of you have outdoor activities on Friday and Saturday. I wish I could promise you the rain will exit by Friday afternoon late/evening. But, question marks remain on the exact timing of the exit. The good news is that most of Saturday into Sunday (during the daylight hours) will be dry. A few storms on Saturday, but believe the bulk of the hours will be dry for most of us. A few unlucky folks will see a shower/storm. A strong cold front sweeps through the area Sunday night and Monday with locally heavy rain, thunder, and gusty winds. Severe weather risk appears limited. I will monitor as more data arrives. Early next week will feel more like March than the middle of April. Frost conditions are possible Monday night and Tuesday night. Not sure yet on freeze conditions. Frost appears possible. There will be some differences in temperatures Friday into Saturday from north to south - a front will be draped across our region - cutting us in half. The focus of the rain will be along and north of the front (similar to last weeks event). The exact placement of the front will determine where radar will be filled in quite a bit vs just a few showers south of the front. Right now I believe the front will be somewhere near or just north of the Ohio River (on Thursday night into Friday). That means the largest rainfall totals Details... Tonight - Moony this evening with stars. Cool, but not as cold as last night. Winds will increase towards morning. A few high clouds towards morning, as well. Overnight lows in the 40s. Winds becoming south at 5-10 mph early and increasing to 10-15 mph towards morning. Thursday - Spring winds. Warm. One of the warmer days of spring, thus far. High temperatures well into the 70s with perhaps an 80 degree reading over part of southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois. South/southwest winds at 15-30 mph with gusts above 40 mph. Thursday night - Increasing clouds through the night. A chance for a stray shower or thunderstorm (especially over southeast Missouri and southern Illinois). Overnight lows in the 50s. South/southwest winds at 10-15 mph. Friday - Mostly cloudy with a period or two of showers and thunderstorms. Locally heavy downpours possible (especially over parts of southeast Missouri and southern Illinois). High temperatures will be in the upper 60s and lower 70s. South/southwest winds at 10-15 mph. Winds will be out of the north over parts of southeast Missouri and southern Illinois. Temperatures might be a tad cooler north of the warm front over southeast Missouri and southern Illinois. Friday night - A few evening showers. Otherwise, some clouds. Overnight lows in the 55-60 degree range. South winds at 10 mph. Saturday - A lot of clouds. A stray shower or thunderstorm possible. More likely dry than not. Seasonably mild. High temperatures in the upper 60s and lower 70s. South winds at 10-15 mph. Gusts to 20 mph. Saturday night - Some clouds. Mild. Overnight lows around 60 degrees. Sunday - A mix of sun and clouds - springishly mild. High temperatures in the middle to upper 70s. Sunday night and Monday - periods of showers and locally heavy thunderstorms. A few storms could produce gusty winds. Frequent lightning with thunderstorms. Lows in the 60s on Sunday night and highs on Monday near 70 before falling behind the cold front. Frost possible Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning.
