twitter followers should be following @todayin1963. NPR is tweeting events throughout the day based on the historical account of the march on Washington 50 years ago today. Here’s a sample: “Would someone please return Jackie Robinson’s son?” announcement rippled through the crowd. Robinson’s son reportedly found. I was 2 and a half when this event happened and now have, in some small way, the ability to relive a defining moment in American history, through twitter. Don’t miss the historical significance and the human courage associated with today’s anniversary. Consider this, 50 years ago today a black man had the courage to give a speech after he had been jailed and his life (and the lives of his family) had been threatened on many occasions. Indeed his life was taken some time later. So now, only 50 years later a black president will give a speech commemorating one of the top 5 most important speeches in American history. That deserves to be honored, indeed celebrated.
