two day report: Lets start with today. It was before 7:00 a,m. and I was standing outside in the rain with headphones one my ears at a nearby bus stop. A brother walks up to me and commences a conversation. He is on his way to work in New York City as a chef in a 3-1/2 star private club. Highly prestigious I commented yet he wished he did not want to go in the rain. At that moment I took my headphones off and let him hear the song that was playing, an Eddie Kendricks song I Love Walking in the Rain. The brother commented that the old music says something the new music does not and that now he understands why I had a big smile on my face when he walked up to me and started the conversation. He had been wondering what I had to smile about on an early rainy Saturday morning. Yesterday I had to have blood work, visit a pharmacist, and pick up medications at the Veterans Hospital. Blood work went well, no waiting, but the visit to the new pharmacist handling my case changed my mood downward, especially after she hinted it looks at if I was wasting my time being there which after that point I agreed, stood up and left the session. Then I went downstairs to the pharmacy to order medications I was running short of. The clerk at the pharmacy window told me the first medication I asked for (for high cholesterol) was not reordered by my new doctor, that I had to make an appointment to get that done. Frustrated I left the hospital without ordering what else I need for my blood pressure and diabetes. I was really bummed out. I wandered around, purchased some things I really did not need then went to my daughters house, sitting on the porch in the rain thinking no one was home although I have the key to get in. After about a half hour a taxi let off a disabled lady that lives across the street.but she could not get anyone to open the door. I told her to come across the street and sit on the porch out of the rain which she did for a few hours. I had never spoken to her but while she was there I forgot about my bad mood and more about that I was doing a good deed. When she did finally got into her house and I went home I thought about how God gave us that way to get our mind off our troubles by helping others.
