up until 1 Jan 2015, i paid 3.60 pounds per day for my 11-16-year-old kids to get round London for the day with the underground - the next day, i paid 6 pounds per day; while their parents pay 12 pounds for a one-day travel card, up from 8.90 pounds (tourists generally dont travel on oyster cards, which can save you some money although they need an initialisation cost; London suddenly became too expensive overnight for us non-underground trains and buses are cheaper than the underground)
