**update on Roger** Yesterday it was decided that we would transfer to Pittsburgh for transplant evaluation and to explore more immediate options. This morning we were told UPMC would take him, just waiting on a bed to become available. At dinner time a case manager came and told us that UPMC was a no go, it turns out that they dont accept his insurance! Roger has had a pretty decent couple of days. Only lost 2 IVs....when the 2nd one went he was without the medication that slows his heart rate and helps treat the heart failure, for about an hour. He found himself having some shortness of breath that stopped as soon as they got the IV started again. Drs. elected not to try to wean him off. As long as he has that medication he stays on a pretty even keel. His blood sugars are staying reasonable. Blood pressure a little low but thats a side effect of the medicines that make his heart pump more effectively. Hes very tired and weak, he sleeps a lot. He has eaten better today than he has since Christmas. Must have found his hollow leg. He has an obsession for ice chips and has recently discovered italian ice. We may have started something there. This evening our nurse said it appears he has been approved to transfer to Allegheny General, so well see what tomorrow brings. Thank you all for your prayers, encouragement and support. Dont know what wed do with out our family and friends! Love to all
