very interesting experience today with my mom... a while back I joined an online group called free-cycle. Items no longer wanted, needed or if you have alot of are posted and its kind of first come first serve to who gets what. Ive received some lovely things, scrapbook items, a real fire hydrant, new fireplace tools but mostly I reply to plant postings.I have received many trees, bulbs, bedding plants. sooooo today, someone posted they had tons of lemons, I replied that I could use lemons to make pies for my husband. The woman sent me her address with a time to come pick the free lemons. When mom and I drove up, moms first comment was....oh you might get a free bag of lemons but will our tires still be on the car when we come out of the yard??? Then we walked to the front of the home. The womans car ADVERTISED (over and over) that she was a surrogate. one sign read, RENT MY WOMB!!! I could hear my mom muttering behind me as I approached the front door bag in hand. The door was answered by at least 3-4 ferocious dogs, then another sign...we have designed our home to please our dogs, if you dont like it, LEAVE. Mom is muttering more loudly now and trying to speak over the dogs. Mom, I shushed her...the windows are open! Someone might hear you... Then mom nudged me and pointed out the mail box that had fallen off the wall. It was over full of cigarette butts. I stared in disbelief. Even if the surrogate didnt smoke, she sure had to be inhaling something. They had to unlock 2 gates to get us access to the rear yard. As we moved along, we walked past one full garbage can of beer and wine bottles. Another was full of chicken bones and skin and the third was full of dog crap. The whole patio in fact was full of dog crap. Mom grabbed my arm and muttered more and more pointing. MOM, stop, someone will notice. We got to the back and the tree looked so sad. It was so loaded with lemons the limbs were breaking, another woman came just after with her own bag and she looked at us in shock; though each of us started picking lemons. YES, I KNOW BY NOW YOU ALL MUST THINK I AM A TOTAL NUTBAR.Go to the store and buy your lemons. First thing mom did when we got home????She washed and cut into a lemon to see if the whole trip was for naught. lol, sometimes its all about the adventure!
