via Dave Watchman ... ...., I will attempt to answer your question the best I can. In Dan 9:25 the text said 7 + 62 = 69 Weeks are...unto the Messiah (anointed). Jesus was anointed by the Holy Ghost at his Baptism in the fall of the year. The first day of the 70th Week therefore was at his Baptism. Jesus public ministry spanned 4 Passovers (3 1/2 years), and when he was crucified on the last Passover, he caused ... the sacrifice and the oblation to cease... AT MID-WEEK: as far as Almighty God was concerned! This is why the veil of the Temple was rent into, signifying a new and living way to approach the Father thru Jesus our High Priest without the need anymore for animal sacrifices! Then we read in Matthew 23 what Jesus said about ...the overspreading of abominations which about 40 years later he would cause the Temple to be desolated in 70 AD and the Jews dispersed around the world for 1897 years until May 14, 1948! So Brother Mxxx Pxxxx, when the future 2nd half of the 70th week resumes, it will resume at some future PASSOVER where it was paused about 2000 years ago. ================ Jesus, the he in Daniel 9:27, shall confirm (strengthen) the covenant (Abrahamic Covenant) with many (in Israel) for one week (7-years): and In the midst of the week (3½ years at the Cross) he (Jesus) shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease (Hebrew 9:26 thru 10:20 & Luke 23:44-46), and for the overspreading of abominations (Matthew 25) he (Jesus) shall make it desolate (70 A.D. until 1948), even until the consummation (the sanctuary will be desolate until Armageddon – Daniel 9:16-17), and that determined ( 3½ year great tribulation: time of Jacobs troubles) shall be poured upon the desolate (Israel). ============= Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to CONFIRM the promises (made) unto the fathers: Romans 15:8, And I say, (that) THE COVENANT, that was CONFIRMED before of God IN CHRIST, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. Galatians 3:17. Find one verse in the Bible that says the antichrist confirms anything. It simply is not there; however, I have shown you two verses that clearly state Jesus was the confirmer of the Covenant! …In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established. 2 Cor. 13:1. ============= Also, the manuscripts say THE covenant - not A covenant. It therefore is speaking of a covenant that the people in Daniels time knew about and not some unknown covenant in some unknown distant future.
