via Susan Harris: If you can and have a lot of ferrel cats or run a rescue and need housing containers for the animals..think of this idea. I saw it on FB a couple of years ago..I use it now for my cats that have been dumped in my yard...buy the biggest tote box you can afford, heavy rubber with a lid, cut a round hold in the end big enough for cats to crawl in. Line it with insulation you find that has the silver material on it..tape down with duck tape, then line that with a black plastic garbage container on the sides covering the inside..if you can afford buy the heating pads for outdoors, putting it on the bottom of this tote. Then go to a thrift store and find either wool blankets, or something that will hold the heat in, make a warm and comfy bed over the heating pad. Cut a tiny hold in the back of this tote to string the cord from the pad out to a plug, I use an x-stention cord to go to the big house plug out side..then purchase a weather tarp and tape all around this tote like a gift to someone, cutting a hole or leave an opening on the end where the cat goes in. This will weather proof it more and keep the wind and the rain snow etc. out..then put this tote in a location near a plug off the ground as well. maybe a chair, under a protection..my ferrel cats love it and through the winter I rehab them and then I find them homes, as well as contact the shelter to find them a home and give them the donation for adoption. It all works wonderfully. Cheers! To All Happy Thankgiving! Susan in Idaho..I will try to get a photo to show and tell..lol...
