via THE STAR. Elgeyo Marakwet MPs have expressed anger over David Kimaiyos resignation as the Inspector General of Police. Kimaiyo, who comes from the county, resigned on Tuesday, citing personal reasons. The MPs claim Kimaiyo was forced to resign by the Jubilee government. The leaders said they might reconsider their political support for the Jubilee government because of Kimaiyos exit. We are not happy with what has happened to Kimaiyo because we know he is being sacrificed for mistakes that are not of his making, Marakwet East MP Bowen Kangogo told the Star on the phone yesterday. Kangogo said Kimaiyo was working as part of a team and he should not have been targeted as an individual. Why are his deputies being spared? We should also have other security chiefs removed because this was a system failure and not an individuals, he said. Keiyo South MP Jackson Kiptanui, Elgeyo Marakwet womens representative Susan Chebet and Marakwet West MP William Kipsang also opposed Kimaiyos exit. They said they had information Kimaiyo was forced to step down. Kimaiyos exit came after the brutal killing of 36 quarry workers by al Shabaab militants in Mandera county. Elgeyo Marakwet minority leader Benson Kiptire accused the Jubilee government of sacrificing Kimaiyo to cover up for the pressure on President Uhuru Kenyatta over insecurity. The MPs have planned a meeting in Elgeyo Marakwet this weekend to defend Kimaiyo. #AbariNdoIyo...
