She was raised as an army brat in Europe and feels that her overseas experiences gave her a very unique outlook on life. Marcia attended and graduated from the following: Michigan State University where she performed with the MSU Repertoire Dance Company and graduated in 1995. Roehampton Institute at Frobel College in Roehampton, England. Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance where she graduated from their professional trainee program in 2000. Graduated from New York University in May 2006 with her Masters in Dance Education. Her views are expressed in her choreographic works with a flair for storytelling and pure movement. The emphasis is on movement that can be influenced by literature, poetry and other forms of art. The mission of Emancia Dance Company is to unite dancers from all walks of life within the community so that they can perform and present sheer artistry from their hearts to all art lovers alike. Emancia is not a company that looks for the “cookie cutter” or typically shaped dancer but one who looks for the artist conveying to the audience that anyone can follow their dreams no matter what. “Nobody cares if you can’t dance well.
