via Western States Endurance Run The Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run wishes to express its gratitude to the search and rescue teams from Placer County and the Lake Tahoe area who successfully located Modesto, Calif., runner Robert “Bob” Root earlier today after Bob went missing during a training run on the Western States Trail on Sunday. In prayer and in action, the circle of love and care that has enveloped Bob during the past two days has been remarkable. To Bob, his family, his legion of friends including the many members of Shadowchase Running Club, and the trained professionals who worked to rescue Bob in challenging conditions, we wish to commend you all for embodying the faith, fortitude and personal graciousness that in every way ennobles our special sport. The candle leading Bob safely home to his friends and family burns uncommonly bright and beautiful tonight.
