vote Selina Isaboke for Vice-Chair for the Kent Law Campaign Student Group!! Hello everyone, I am running for the position of Vice-Chair for the Kent Law Campaign Student Group. Elections are tomorrow in KS17 at 6pm. The current committee will also be selling tickets for their final event!! Come support the CAMPAIGN To make your work easier below is my manifesto: KENT LAW CAMPAIGN STUDENT GROUP COMMITTEE (2014/2015) Who you are? My name is Selina Isaboke. I am a second year law student and I am running for Vice-Chair of the Kent Law Campaign Student Group. Why are you suited for the roles you are running for? As a Kent Law School Academic Peer Mentor I have had the privilege of mentoring a group of first year law students. This experience has not only boosted my confidence but has also confirmed that I am a team player. Mentoring first years shows my commitment and enthusiasm as it has enabled me to inspire, motivate and encourage them to do their best and explore their potential. I believe these qualities are essential for an effective leader. I have volunteered for the Kent Law Clinic and the Mooting programme as a Mooting Officer as well as attended several advice sessions. This has enabled me understand why the Kent Law Clinic and the Mooting programme are so important to not only Kent Law School students who get unparalleled work experience, but also to the local community as a whole. Furthermore, being a part of the mooting programme and the Kent Law Clinic has allowed me to acknowledge the importance of the Kent Law Campaign Student Group and given the opportunity, I will work hand in hand with each committee member to ensure the success of the Kent Law Campaign Student Group. In the summer I had the privilege of interning at one of Africa’s largest Public Relations companies Gina Din public relations agency as a public relations intern. At this PR firm I was in charge of making sure that all the events held by the company whilst I was there run smoothly. I did this by ensuring that all the invites were sent out and confirmed, I had to organise for the seating arrangement and welcoming the guests on arrival. My exposure event organising and planning at the PR agency will enable me to fully engage with all the activities held by the Campaign. More recently with the support of family and friends I raised over £2000 for a Maasai girls rescue centre in Kenya which is so dear to me. The money will go towards the girls’ education as this is essential for securing their future. This experience as well as all the above confirms the hard work, dedication, organisation skills and drive that I will bring to this committee. And changes you want to make for next year? The current and previous committees have done an incredible job over the last years and given the honour to continue this work, I aim to build on their success by firstly raising awareness and getting donations from the Kent Law School alumni in Kenya. There is a large Kent Law School alumnus in Kenya that consists of graduates from the 70’s including the current Cabinet Secretary for Defence. I intend to get in contact with each one of them and share the Kent Law Campaign Student Group story. Secondly as this committee will be the final one before the opening of the new Mooting Chambers and Kent Law Clinic building, the expectations are high and I promise to work closely with each committee member to surpass the commendable work that has been done by the previous committees and raise more money by organising for more events such as: -Mobilise people to climb Mt. Kenya for charity by involving the Kent Law School alumni in Kenya. -Karaoke Night at local Pubs -Bake Off/ Cook Off (liaise with Kent Foodie Society) -Fashion show/ Fancy Dress (liaise with Kent Fashion Society) - Women’s Night Out/ Women’s Spa Night (have female volunteers give mani/pedis/5 min massages) -Talent Show -Come Dine with Me (Lecturers/Students edition) -Bachelorette/Bachelor date auction (highest bidder gets to go on a date with her) -Wrap most events around holidays (Christmas/Valentines/Easter) Vote for the Campaign, Vote for Selina xx
