“…wait for the promise of the Father…” Acts 1:4 (KJV) We race through our lives with everyday activities while waiting expectantly for the arrival of someone else…claiming him or her as an acquaintance when in fact we hardly know him or her, admitting that we wouldn’t recognize him or her even if we were to see him or her on the street. We eat, sleep, converse, argue, play, work and plan our lives around what we do. We run the risk of relegating Jesus to a casual acquaintance. The prophet Isaiah spoke of the benefits of waiting patiently and expectantly on the LORD. If we are able to incorporate more waiting into our doing, those benefits will not just be evident in our lives, instead, they will be integrally interwoven throughout life’s fabric. With that strength, we can live and wait successfully – even if life goes into overtime!
