watch pbs right now-the attack on public education-an attack on public education is an attack on America--6000 charter schools across the nation--money is driving the debate-wall st. sees an emerging market--they want to invest in these profit making schools--to cash in--put out a media campaign at 3 and a half a million dollars to convince public about the charter school movement--private buying of public education--asst. sec of education--diane ravitch--reign of error--market of 500 billion dollars a year with conferences on how to profit from public education--one of foundation stones of America and democracy--money trail starts foreign profit charter schools that drive legislative changes--federal money-race to the top takes off the cap for charter schools--to receive monies--independent monies going to legislators to approve the charter movement while funding their campaigns--billionaire in texas john Arnold to change in dallas to an all charter district-Detroit, new Orleans, kansis city and more there will be no public schools except for those who dont want a particular type of student--education is not failing or decreasing--problem is that 25% of our student population lives in poverty-doing a heroic job-community is in trouble hence the schools--originally collaborative plan was to pick up drop outs and bring them back to public ed.--hedge fund people are now involved and are only concerned with scores--dont want trouble makers, disabled, etc. worst thing about charters is the profit making--white head company has extracted 100 billion dollars of tax monies throughout the country-charter industry has taken over the education in florida-vitural charters are the worst--no physical school-k-12 funded by Michael milkner--learn totally on line-give out one computer and one teacher monitors at least 100 schools--very profitable-20 years from now will be in charter schools--end of school boards and establish charter school boards--want to see the end of public schools-private corporations with a contract with the government-they are private corportations with non certified teachers and lower pay. return to original philosophy to help the neediest schools--dumping ground in public schools for the students that no one wants--
