~~~~we care our farmers~~~~~~ AGRICULTURE Agriculture, the backbone of the country, has been neglected in recent years. Agriculture has become a non-profitable venture and this situation creates many socio, economic problems. Welfare Party of India urges sufficient allocation of funds for agriculture, power at reduced rate, seeds and fertilizers and other essential farming items to be provided at affordable price, ban to be imposed on Monsanto and other GM seeds, future trading to be completely banned, realistic MSP to be made available to all important crops, chain of storage and warehouse facilities should be provided at production hubs in rural areas itself, interest free loan must be provided to farmers, insurance coverage with individual specific and group/area specific provisions to be made easier, and promote cooperative farming. Emphasis with sufficient fund shall be given for research and development to make great leaps in this field. The Party will promote traditional farming. Tiller, tractors and other farm equipments will be made available at nominal rent. Cultivation of minor millets, pulses and oil seeds will also be promoted. Farmers are being exploited and major chunk of their earnings is taken away by intermediates; Party will encourage direct purchase from the farmers. The Party moots the idea of setting up an Agricultural Board in the tune of Railway Board. Agricultural subsidy being given to farmers in no account should be withdrawn and all reservations in this regard emerging out of the economic liberalisation policy be resisted. The alarming rate of farmers suicide (46 farmers each day or nearly one every half-hour since 2001) has to be taken seriously. Comprehensive solutions and compensation packages must be evolved to put a permanent brake. welfare party of India....
