we could end the ridiculously lopsided genocide [1500 Palestinians killed, 30 or so Israelis, only one a civilian, hundreds of Palestinian children killed versus zero Israeli children etc etc etc - all clearly listed as a war crime under the international war crime law of proportionality] in a red hot minute if Obama decided to threaten cutting of US aid to Israel. He doesnt even need to do it, just mention it, and everything would stop today. Israels social programs [much better than ours by the way] free health care, lovely transit and infrastructure systems, would suddenly be in peril and Netenyahu would do whatever he said, since instituting Western European and American style austerity measures would affect his popularity rating right away. So, as with so many other things, Obama claims to be unable to do anything but he has the power to act today immediately. [Pentagon Aid = US military = President as SOLE Commander in Chief of the US military.] Its my same frustration with him claiming impotence to act re gays in the military, the military tribunals in Guantanamo and now the military aid given to a nation that is clearly completely out of control regarding their targeting of a hundred, two hundred, a thousand, rocket launchers and what previously untouchable sanctuaries like the UN etc. He has no desire to lead, he wants to wait for either the Judiciary to decide [as he did with gays in the military and the legislative branch still re Guantanamo.] Carter is often called a weak president but at least he had the guts to pursue his policies - Obama is weaker because he simply waits for everyone else to create his vision when in many cases [of course not all!] he had the constitutional power to implement so many of his policies on day one of his pres, 6+ years ago.
