we have heard from a few people that another French bulldog rescue have been talking about our latest rescue venture on a private email forum. That we paid too much to get the frenchies out of the auction and mills and into rescue. We feel that our donors support our effort to get them out of the cruel world of these wonderful dogs being used for profit only and be given the love, respect and vet care they so deserve. They are also saying that the auctions are not as bad as we have stated- I have gone to many personally and for me- they never get easier or fun or enjoyable in any way and every person I have taken with me to the auctions emotionally break down when they go. This same group seem to think that the amish are good to their dogs in the mill, I personally have seen otherwise at the auctions and at actual amish mills. If you go to read the USDA reports- the mills owned by amish usually have the most fines and worse conditions. I have seen over and over again at the auctions the way the amish treat the animals they are selling or buying. The dogs we get out of the amish mills are usually the most emotionally damaged as well. This group of people are saying that we are just using these statements to get our donors to donate- everyone who knows me knows I have always been honest with you and that there is no reason to make up lies about the auctions or amish mills. I think Janie Jenkins who has gone with me as well as Kathy Malone Miranda and Michelle Adams and the others would agree with me- the auctions are not enjoyable in any way. The person who is making these comments goes to more auctions than I do and they seem to actually enjoy going to them, they sit there comfortably as if they were at the movies - myself- they are emotionally, mentally and physically exhausting and are only worth going to - to save as many as we can and get them out of the system completely. We have saved more than one frenchie that would have died if a mill bought them instead of a rescue- so to me- every penny we have paid at an auction has been worth their freedom. Unless this person, I will go to auctions and spend every dollar donated to get as many out as possible, where as this person has decided that they would prefer to put a limit on their spending and save their money for another auction instead of saving any at the auction they are attending. I believe our donors would prefer we get out as many as we can when we go- not sit on their money for when they are cheaper....even after going to so many, I personally fight back the tears every time I go and more often than not, the tears win out when we get home or on our way home for the ones we were not able to save.
