well ladies and gents...Kenny Bear has officially harvested a Trophy Whitetail deer today. seen him in the sunflowers only by the horns...tried to meow n only came out with a dryd out rasp but just enough that he turned his head...only could see the horns @ 100yards or so ..but i couldnt see his face or body...only his horns...put the crosshairs where I felt would be between the eyes and let er fly....down goes the horns....went to look for it and took a lil while, that is some thick sunflowers...seen a buck pop up and thought it was him and that I may have missed but I heard the all tell tale sign of the aw n awesome THUNK!...neway uncle found the white belly and we got him...he is by far the biggest buck I have ever gotten for a whitetail...nice 5x5 and I have to say his body is damn near the size of a horse especially before he was gutted!! Uncle n I couldnt drag it more than 20 ft with the guts in...so we gutted him out and still it was a hard time dragging him even with a lane cleared of stalks....towards the end of the day on our last spot found another buck but it was waning light and getting dark FAST!! I couldnt see too well and I made a bad shot...seen the buck whip around and drop but his head was up which indicates more of a back leg shot...then as we tried to find him, it got night and im sure he booked it as soon as he heard us coming...leg shots are the worst..they will run and run and eventually die if it was a larger round. Buuuuuuut ill see if i cant find him next time..just to say a prayer n find his body and see if it was as nice as this specimen. everytime I lose a buck a part of me wants to smack myself upside the head...*DOING* WHAT R YA DOIN!!!!....still angry about it but hey I have meat. Im very proud of my shooting ability and the quick kills I have gotten with this 300 win mag..by far one of my most fav rifles :)...today was a great hunt! A GREAT HUNT!! tommorow mornin the processing starts. :) lots of meat of this horse of a buck!!
