well, my take on todays game. Plenty of possession, nice touches, naive tactics in defence (two backs so far apart from each other they needed a megaphone to communicate to each other). Roberts came on and the rise in confidence was palpable, perhaps had he come on 10 minutes earlier we could have had a draw. Unlucky in attack, didnt get the breaks, and youthful exhuberance meant chances were wasted. The tractor boys stuck close to our players and didnt give them room to manoeuvre, and heres the point, Ipswich are a tight unit, experienced and used to playing with each other, Fulham arent, you need time for the players to stop being strangers, to learn other players moves, to establish an understanding with each other. Likewise Magath is new to English football, he will hopefully learn from todays mistakes. For many expectations are too high and everyone seems to think we will walk this league and with one loss, away to Ipswich, who have a great home record and the mood changes. One other thing, the transfer window is still open, watch this space...
