well they found the remains of the plane that went down today, in northeastern Mali in the middle of nowhere in the Sahara, and of course it went down in an area controlled by Tuareg rebels, an investigators worst nightmare is an uncooperative insurgency. CNN was discussing the plane crash in Russia today and its disturbing to think thats now two plane crashes ago. 3 in one week. Great news for Alexander Rossi and the hope of an American in F1! The Californian signed with Marussia to become the teams official reserve driver, so he is the third driver and will do some practice sessions almost certainly including the US Grand Prix, plus it is a step up anyway, Marussia is more competitive than Caterham and now they have points, plus perhaps next season the resulting money from the points will allow them to promote Rossi to a race seat. Apparently one of Hamiltons engineers broke three ribs in the Great Mercedes Cycling Pileup, as I thought the drivers were not there, they went out to dinner with Niki Lauda. Lewis has some lingering neck pain from his qualifying crash at Hockenheim and decided not to take part and Nico did not want to risk injury (he always was the smart one!). Big news from Bernie, Mexico is on the F1 calendar for next year and Azerbaijan will debut in 2016. Also a MIRACLE happened, the idiots in New Jersey finally appear to have gotten their act together according to Bernie and have funding in place to host a grand prix, but it will be in 2016. This has already become the biggest joke in the history of F1, no race has ever been postponed twice and this would be a third time. The Penske signing Marcos to head a V8 Supercar team rumors will not go away, though Marcos says he wants to stay in Nascar with Richard Petty Motorsports and Petty says he wants to keep him. His departure would create problems, I dont know who would replace him. Of their development drivers, Dakoda Armstrong has been completely underwhelming in the Nationwide series and Corey Lajoie has virtually no experience. With Bayne being promoted by Roush from his Nationwide team to his Cup team hes out of the question, the other Roush drivers are too inexperienced and/or bad to use the alliance between the teams to get promoted, and there arent any other good Ford candidates. Hypothetically I think their best bet is Regan Smith since I figure Edwards is out of reach, but Smith is in Chevy equipment in Jr.s Nationwide program. My second choice then would be Cole Whitt, no doubt the talent is there but the funding is not, so third choice would be Ryan Blaney but thats a bit of a longshot, big longshot is Sam Hornish. Of course all this is hypothetical and by far the best scenario for all involved is for Marcos to stay. Apparently there is a crowd funding effort underway to raise $100,000 worth or bitcoins to sponsor Alex Bowman at Atlanta in about 6 weeks. Whatever gets small teams more money and gets them more competitive. Yankees win 4-2 with some key hits from Gardner, McCann, Headley, and Cervelli and another good start from Brandon McCarthy who has done very well in New York. Yankees also picked up another arm by getting former all-star with Milwaukee Chris Capuano from the Rockies for cash, Capuano was so bad with Boston earlier this season he was released on July 1. The Mariners also got Kendrys Morales back from the Twins. In celebration of National Tequila Day, the two Tequila Patron Extreme Speed Motorsports entries swept the front row for the United Sports Car Championship event at Indy. Headed to Appomattox tomorrow, havent been to the battlefield in a while, its time I did.
