well, what is this winter going bring, this year ? not really talking about weather, guess, I will tear my motor apart and tear my heads apart and port them some, but mainly get the waves out of them, that CNC machines put in and polish them. I do this by hand, a little with a small grinder, but mainly with my fingers and sand paper. I have done this on my 2 stroke motors, on the ports and I have done this on 4 sets of SBC heads, 3 sets of those heads were ported before I worked on them. 1 set was CNC, just like the ones I have now. 2 times, to prove a point to the local speed shop. I had the heads flow tested after they were ported by them and the 1 set that was CNC ed..by a well know company The guy kept the numbers in his computer. Then both times it took me a month of working on them in my spare time to polish them to a mirror finish. Then I took them back to the guy and he flow tested them again. The 1 set of heads there were ported and polished by that guy, when he tested them, I got a increase of 25 cfm. and on the heads that were CNC -ed I got a increase of 40 cfm . Now this might not seem like much, but my point is, both of these guys ,told me, that the heads could not flow any more after they did their work. Well I proved both of them wrong. Not sure how much more HP it gave me, but my car went faster. This is very hard to do, it tears the skin off my fingers, but I will be doing it to my 18 degree X brodix heads. These were CNC, and flow very well, but I know I can make them better. I need about 25 more HP out of these heads, so thats my winter project. Just trying to get every single bit of Horse power out of this motor without any add ons
