Posted by ********* on 5th Jul 2014 Bought a pair of these as I wanted to try something different to my HanWag Tatra boots (not that I am complaining about those!). I have a pair of the Aku Rock Light GTX and found they allowed me good movement for rock hopping but something more substantial was needed for more rocky terrain. I broke into my Superalps during a walk around Buttermere but used them today on a walk up Skiddaw. Good rocky ground with plenty of uphill, followed by grassy slopes and rock going downhill. These boots quite frankly are brilliant. Fit perfectly, offer plenty of support around the ankle and have a good solid sole, which still offers good flexibility on the steepest of ground. The rand provides fantastic protection and I cannot ask for a better boot. I wore a pair of the X Socks trail socks which work perfectly alongside the boots. I am now torn between which of the two I prefer - Tatras or Superalp?
