what a word, by my friend Geneva Hartley: For some time I have been wondering what my symbol of daily suffering should be. You know lupus is a purple butterfly, breast cancer is pink, etc. And there is nothing wrong with that. It gives us something to identify with. So what does a fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetic, thyroid, sometimes depressed, shingles victim with a curvature of the spine get? I love Lisa Frank artwork; lots of pretty colors. There is one of a white horse with beautiful rainbow hair. That might work. Two thousand years ago there was a true symbol for everyone who suffers in every way. Jesus with the stripes on His back. Jesus Who took my disease of sin so that I would not be punished for it. Jesus Who hung on the cross in public for me. No, this is not a pretty picture, its not a pretty ribbon, but it is my symbol. Then He gave me hope! I will be healed one day. And if that wasnt enough He has built me a home. How many people have offered to do that for you? Die for you, take your sin, bear your burdens, intercede daily to His Father for you, give you an eternal home? Theres not a one like my Jesus, no not one!
