what does HITTING ROCK BOTTOM really mean? does it mean SUBSTITUTING sins - ie: I stopped doing this sin, but its ok for me to do this one??? Job_34:22 There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves. there is much confusion between either CONVICTION, CONSEQUENCES and REPENTANCE and not KNOWING what these mean can be DEADLY to a heathen, since they MIGHT believe they ARE born again yet in truth they are just substituting one sin for another and trying to REFORM themselves and NEVER REPENTING towards God and believing on Christ and thus end up in the lake of fire on judgement day since they are dead in their sins (not remitted Rom 3:25, dead in ones sins does not mean found SINNING on point of death, it means NOT redeemed from the curse of the law, the wages of SIN is death) for example there are many lusts in the world that we (any man (man being mankind which includes woman or man, though God created man and woman came out of man at the creation see Gen 1,2, then man or woman came out of woman since now there was a woman to be mans HELPMEET)) - born again or not, even Jesus (Christ the Lord) was tempted in all ways yet sinned not 2 Cor 5:21, 1 Pet 2:22) are tempted with by the devil (the difference between the giving into the temptation between the man born again and the man who is NOT is the HOLY SPIRIT in the man born again - so called recovery programs (Celebrate Recovery and others like it are leavened though they do mention the Bible in part and also mention the Vatican (wicked) Bibles as well and mostly (NIV< NASB, ESV, etc)) dont even mention SIN as the root and the solution is to be born again NOT SINNING is the root (though in the sinner the lost man - the heathen, sinning is their nature, unlike the man born again who may FALL not DIVE into sin and the depths and levels are far less due to the new conversion (2 Cor 5:17), sinning being the root problem is the ARMINIAN blindness and the CHURCH OF ROME delusion which is of works to earn salvation and not grace (Eph 2:8,9)) - strong drink and wine (wine, beer, liquor, etc - drunkenness is ONE drink or one puff even), fornication, stealing, lying, unrighteous anger, blasphemy, have (in heart and in hand) other gods above GOD, LUST (same as covetousness) in all its forms, eyes and flesh), witchcraft in all its forms, smoking, and much much more that are either EXPLICITLY or IMPLICITLY listed in Gods HOLY WORD (KJB) rightly divided via HOLY GHOST we must REVISIT a verse in the Bible For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Heb 4:12) consequences - nobody likes (unless its upon another) or wants these, few even admit they exist, even fewer believe there are NATURAL and God given (though both natural and God given God must allow) and try to come up with excuses for them - the weather, etc - do remember God CAN use anything He wants to deliver these JUDGMENTS upon man - even use wicked or righteous men depending on their position of power and if they are wicked then to use their wickedness (the wicked person was already reprobate and or leaning in that direction in their heart re: PHAROAH) lets begin with CONSEQUENCES: when a person sins there ARE consequences..........that is what the Bible tells us and Gods Word is truth (fully) and there is NO LIE in God (you must RIGHTLY divide Gods Word though especially IF you are reading something God wrote to give warning of what NOT to do and thus God uses a testimony or witness of what someone wicked said or did and or the level of sin may not have been to the degree of wickedness, all sin is wicked in Gods eyes, there is NO such thing as a WHITE LIE, or a little theft, or a little unrighteous hatred or anger) (1Jn_5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. ; Pro_30:5,6 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. ; 1Jn_1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.) Gal_6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Gal_6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. let me use an illustration a sinner has noticed when they sin - they like it (in a born again person there is HEAVY chastening, and as i mentioned above they WONT sin to same degree and or same type of sin as they did when they were a heathen (before being regenerated by the HOLY GHOST), forgot to mention a born again person is ETERNALLY SAVED, they cannot even by their own will be UNBORN AGAIN - see book of Hebrews in the Bible), though they DONT like some of the things that are included with sinning - such as for example - loss of right judgment (thought they could stop at ONE DRINK, one smoke, etc, drove into a snow bank one time too many, said or did some things at work (or anywhere - to wife/husband/kids) should not have that were NOT OF GOD), physical after symptoms such as vomiting, convulsions, lung damage (coughing up blood), liver or kidney or heart problems) - so they basically dont like the NATURAL consequences but would still like to sin..........so they sin less and or they SUBSTITUTE to another LUST (lust is root of sin Jas_1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.) smoking to fornication to drinking to stealing, etc (some even go so far as to use common false religions (Mormons, Jehovah Witness, Buddhists, Islam, Judaism) or even TRUE religion (Christianity) leavened though as their new lust - Arminians do this though have not realized it yet - all of these of course fall under MYSTERY BABYLON - Catholicism the Church of Rome being the MOTHER of them all), the other sins which Gods Word says are SINS such as LYING, unrighteous anger, having other gods above God, blasphemy, coveting are generally OVERLOOKED, some forms of anger MIGHT be looked at and considered to improve depending on the RESULTS of the action - did the anger YIELD what the person wanted or not what they wanted - but the problem is is the person JUDGING from a RIGHT or WRONG FOUNDATION - for example because of their SIN they are now broke, so the person might say to themselves ok so dont do that sin (which they may or may not acknowledge as sin unto God yet and simply a consequence of a habit or action and not even acknowledge they have sinned) or to that degree and dont get this, but what if THIS that they LOSt was something they should NOT have had in the first place - ie: a WHORISH woman? or a corrupt company/employment/contract? so all that person has done is SUBSTITUTED one god for another - they being the main god and not Christ they have NOT hit rock bottom - the end of themselves.........the Bible says it much better than the vague term rock bottom: Mat_21:44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. so there you have it - Christ falls on you and your destroyed (tormented eternally - Proverbs 29:1) OR you fall on Christ and be tormented presently though not reprobate yet.........OR you REPENT and believe on The Lord Jesus Christ and be redeemed eternally NOW (Rev_5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; ) And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. (Luk 20:17-18) If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. (1Pe 2:3-8) the man who is substituting one sin for another simply because he doesnt like the consequences of the sin is not even aware it is a sin and to whom that sin is and the root issue which is SIN itself and the need of redemption - Rom 3. I may write more on this later, but that is all for now...........hope it spoke to someone out there who is trying to confuse conviction with consequences and or repentance last thought though: For though I made you sorry with a letter, I do not repent, though I did repent: for I perceive that the same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season. Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter. (2Co 7:8-11) the SORROW OF THE WORLD WORKETH DEATH, Godly sorrow worketh repentance unto salvation and ONLY God can give that sorrow, so YIELD to Gods grace before you find yourself given over to the lust of your heart as Sodom was and eventually destroyed (tormented eternally as all those not born again will be unless and IF they can still repent (reprobates have been REJECTED of God because they have rejected God FINALLY - see Rom 1))
