what u think fb: Gov. Pat Quinn signed two new laws to make Illinois roads safer for all drivers. One law prohibits the use of all hand-held mobile devices while driving on Illinois roads. The other law increases penalties for drivers who cause an accident while using an electronic device, including possible prison time. Current law only allows these drivers to be charged with traffic violations. The bill does make exceptions for hands-free devices, including those with headsets. Illinois is the 12th state to ban the use of hand-held devices while driving. The law takes effect Jan. 1.
