where do you belong ...after years of living in England and taking comforts in some and some so not comforts I have always looked to my roots as Africa...but every time I will go there I will see my fellow Africans stir at me as if they sensed a stranger on their soil...I often wondered... my accent I felt was still authentic... I had not modified myself so as to fit in with the stereotype of how a person who has been away in Europe for so long should look or act like somehow I felt rejected by the soil and at the back of my mind I was battling with this issue... am I still the child of the soil... if I battle with such an issue when I can still climb on the plane and heard to Africa and point to Umkhumbane a historic part of South Africa and say this is my home ...I wonder how my children would feel ...they speak the Zulu language but they have no authentic accent ...will south Africa be lost in the mist of their historic existence...will they be lost at sea where they will always be regarded as immigrants... even though they may be fifth generation ...where do we belong???
