#whocanrelate There is a big difference between tidy and clean. My husband is tidy. He wants nothing on any surfaces. The kitchen counter should be empty. The landing strip should hold nothing. If he uses a glass, he puts it in the dishwasher. Later, if he wants a drink again, he gets out a new glass. However, he is incapable of noticing when the coffee table has a thick layer of dust or when the tile floor is so sticky your shoes make horrid ripping noises walking around. I am not tidy. If I have a bill to pay and have to wait a few days until my paycheck arrives so I can safely write a check, I leave it out. Otherwise, to me, out of sight is out of mind. I work from home, on projects that take about a month each, with about four overlapping at any time. I have notes and reports on my desk. It isnt a disaster but it isnt empty. However, I am a stickler for hygiene. I wash the countertops with HOT water and soap. I scrub the bathrooms. Since husband is unemployed and has promised to do the cleaning, I fight my impulse to dust or mop, wondering just how dirty it has to get before he notices. Answer: very dirty. So there. Clean and tidy are worlds apart apartmenttherapy/dirty-little-secrets-of-tidy-families-190889
