why does new york have to have such strict carry laws? i legally, and safely, practice my right to carry when i am able. when i am not my pistol is locked safely in my gun safe in my vehicle... the problem i face is, being a resident of PA and living close to the NY border, i have family i visit during the holidays and when i am able. Yet now i find that even carrying my pistol in my safe is illegal in new york state. It is not like i can not legally obtain residency in new york, yet even doing so the only reason i could could obtain a carry permit through new york is if it is required for employment. New york doesnt even have open carry laws, yet they swear up and down they support the second amendment... how so? i feel as if i am required to give up my rights now every time i cross the new york state border regardless of whether or not i have a PA conceal carry license. As much as i hate this, and resent new york for this... i will comply. Why... because, honorably, i can not ignore the laws of new york no matter how much i disagree. I feel wronged, angry, and frustrated with this, yet my own morals force me to go along... 2nd amendment or not new york set their own local laws and seeing my family is far more important than my pride or desire to carry. maybe one day they will work with me... heres hoping.
