why is it so hard for folks, well meaning folk, to stand up, embrace and speak specifically to the facts? Nicholas Kristof: I don’t know what unfolded in Ferguson between Michael Brown, a black teenager, and Darren Wilson, a white police officer. But there is a pattern: a ProPublica investigation found that young black men are shot dead by police at 21 times the rate of young white men. The point is we do know what happened. We have witnesses and forensic evidence that paint a very clear picture of the event(s) that unfolded in Ferguson. A good place to start for any truth and reconciliation would be to accurately report and have folks agree on the facts and their most likely implications. We follow this process in almost all other aspects of our lives. Whats so different here?
