why the black and yellow taxis are safer than chutya meru or uber ? its tough to get a taxi drivers license in bombay and the yellow and black cabs and cool cabs belong to the taximens union which is a pretty strict sort of mens club where only those who are capable enough to drive and who have been domiciled in this city for atleast 5+ years are allowed. the union fights for taxi rates and in return tries best to ensure that union members behave. I have never ever had a taxi driver drunk even in the dead of night. every taxi is tagged to the driver or the owner who is part of the union. All of this information is readily available to the mumbai police. many of these drivers have been plying for years on end so they do not take nonsense from anyone especially new members. If there is a rape case against a black and yellow cab driver everyone in the union will know about it and he will be screwed. he will never drive again. Chutya Meri and Uber hire anyone who has a drivers license. Anyone can become a cab driver. Most of the drivers are chutyas who are looking for a job and end up learning driving either from a chutya training school or some friend or rishtedar. There is no union or any kind of setup where these guys are registered. Chutya Meru or Uber just takes their ration card ka xerox copy and light bill ka xerox copy besides driver license ka xerox copy. Most of these chutya drivers do not know the city. they will be driving for the first time. They know they can rape women and get away with it because of the fact that Chutya Meru cannot trace them.
