with the royals soon to descend on our shores it is worth noting that the new Prince of Wales, the future King, and will automatically inherit the Duchy of Cornwall, a vast estate comprising 54.090 Hectares of land, worth about 750 million pounds and yielding an annual profit of 16 million pounds in 2010. The Duchy of Cornwall was created in 1337 by Edward III to ‘provide [his heir] and future Princes of Wales with an income from its assets’. - apparently the age of austerity does not apply to everyone!
