You are invited to attend the CalVet Women Veterans Statewide Phone Call and Webinar on Monday, October 6th, 10am – 11am This event is held the first Monday of every month from 10am – 11am This month’s topic: Stand Downs With an emphasis on Women This months guest speakers: Dr. Jennifer Grigoriou Veteran Research Consultant at Pacific Library Partners Program Centered Administrative Consult Jennifer’s background is a blending of Program Development & Coordination—specifically, Capacity Building Projects aimed at advancing women veteran initiatives. Since 2010, she has worked as a consultant with organizations such as Pacific Library Partners, CSU Stanislaus, Department of Labor Women’s Bureau and United States Women’s Initiative to assist with the advancement of veteran health, employment & reintegration initiatives. She obtained her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the CA School of Professional Psychology (in Sacramento). She possesses over ten years of experience working with: veterans; monolingual Spanish-speaking immigrants; LGBT; and individuals with acquired and developmental disabilities.ltant at National Women Veteran Collaborative Dottie Guy calhum.org/experiences/war-comes-home-dottie-guy Kelly McFarland Kelly McFarland served in the United States Navy from 1989 to 2009, retiring from the Reserve community as a Chief Petty Officer. Her military career includes a recall in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004, as well as duty in Korea, Japan, Bahrain, Pearl Harbor and other stations. In her civilian career she is the co-founder of a small business in Livermore, California -- The Winemaker’s PourHouse -- and currently is the development and communications manager for Swords to Plowshares, a San Francisco-based direct service non-profit organization benefiting veterans and their families. StarLyn Lara Ms. Lara served nearly twelve years on active duty in the US Army from 1995-2007, and was assigned to multiple duty stations as well as deployments that included Bosnia during Operation Joint Forge and Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. She was awarded the Combat Action Badge and two Meritorious Service Medals for her service. Ms. Lara was appointed as a commissioner on the Alameda Veterans Affairs Commission, she serves on the Advisory Board for Women Veterans Connect Inc. (a registered non-profit corporation), and she was recognized as the 2014 Woman Veteran Leader of the Year by California Department of Veteran Affairs. Star Lara is currently the Woman Veteran Program Manager for Swords to Plowshares, a San Francisco-based direct service non-profit organization benefiting veterans and their families.
