written by a friend. . Prosecutors appealed the decision, and last week the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals heard closed-door oral arguments in the case. Even Daoud’s counsel was barred. A portion of the hearing was heard in public but even this was not recorded, according to the ABA Journal. Court employees reportedly found it “intimidating” that Department of Justice officials searched the courtroom for bugs ahead of the hearing, and did not realize they were supposed to record any of it. The court then ordered a rehearing of the arguments on Monday, as this was apparently the first time that arguments before the Seventh Circuit were not recorded.
