(wrote this over 25 year ago and to this day still believe in the magic of Christmas which is not bought with money but belief and joy in our hearts) A friend of mine, an 11 year old girl, wrote to me for advice. She believes in Santa Claus, and her classmates and teacher dont. Her classmates are making fun of her. She asked me to help her prove that Santa exists. Here is my response. I thought you might all enjoy it. Happy holidays. We were at a family reunion some years ago several of my nieces and nephews asked my 88 year old grandfather great-granddad is there, Santa. What’s he like youve been around for years. To this question he replied -- Santa is the greatest being there is, with the biggest heart, and thrives on belief. If you dont believe, then that when wishes will not come true, now me Ive been around and Santa brought gifts during both world wars, he found me when we moved, he found my children when they moved. He has made every Christmas magical, if only for a brief space of time. Santa, is the one that sprinkles the magic that makes everyone decorate their houses so that people to poor to afford the magic of lights can enjoy it. He helps to make love in a family a little stronger. But first you have to believe, that Santa is out there and will do his best for you, a toy, a moment of joy, a good meal, or just family together. Santa has the biggest heart in the world and he is everything that love should be. So dont you worry none if Santa does or does not exist, you go out and see if you can be a bit like Santa yourself and Santa will be a whole lot bigger as he has one more helper to help in a job that covers the world. The last time I heard this story was well over 15 years ago, and I thank you for reminding me, as my grandfather at 88 was still a firm believer in Santa Claus and all he stood for. If you wish you can pass this on to the little girl and tell her that one 40 plus lady and six dogs are firm believer in Santa and because grandpa said so; we try to be like Santa a little bit to a lot every year.
