you are the light... ...yes, we have a privilege and a responsibility to be light in a dark world... BUT! the pressure is not on us to perform. but, simply to follow. "...when Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." john 8:12 first, HE is the light and as we come to Him and receive from Him the life He offers, we then contain and display ("we have") that same light as children of our God and co-heirs with Jesus. then Jesus said: 14“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.." matt 5:14-15 the life we are called to live in Christ, the hope that we are called to share with those around us is this: who Jesus is, who He is to us, what He has done and what He has done in us. as we follow Jesus with gratitude and joy we "naturally" display the light that is Jesus in us. "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matt 5:16 keeping in view His mercy and reveling in His grace - we get after life with vigor and vision - knowing that it is He who works in and through us - by His power and grace - and that the works that emanate from us are of His making. this is what illumines the world around us, this is (the light) we bring... Jesus
