you know I am a big fan of reality tv. BUT, I am very selective. I dont watch the ones that I suspect are scripted and I try to find out as much as I can if they are scripted before I get hooked. For example I was really digging (do people still say they dig something), anyway I was digging, Airplane Repo. Come to find out, its scripted, they even have some actors who have been in minor roles elsewhere. But I said all that to say this.. Gold Rush uses 50 to 100 hours of shot tape to edit it down to 45 minutes of programming each week. 50 to 100 hours!
