you know I rattle on about music as high art and not just entertainment - well, this piece is something that I am so very excited about - Bobby Previte is an accomplished drummer and percussionist, whose footsteps I have inadvertently followed in - drum set player goes to the avant-garde percussion department at University at Buffalo, studies under Jan Williams, gets exposed to the music of John Cage, learns about percussion ensembles (you mean its a group of nothing but percussionists?) Bobby is the man, in other words - a musician who channels all of his influences into a great synthesis of cross-pollinations and new ideas. THEN, for his latest work, he brought in different soloists to work along side the percussion mastery - one such soloist is my personal guitar messiah, Nels Cline, Nels himself being a musician who channels all of his influences into a great synthesis of cross-pollinations and new ideas. This is a match made in the Heavens of my own personal journey as a musician, a trained drummer and percussionist, a mostly self-taught guitarist. This piece will be greatly rewarding to those willing to let it unfold to them - if you arent used to percussion ensemble work, or the outside-the-box approach of Clines guitar work, then this will all be lost upon you I am sure.
