It will be shown at 8:00PM on Thursday, November 21st in the Lounge of the Church-in-the-Gardens Parish House. All films in the series are open to the general public and free of charge. This engaging documentary profiles the evolution of environmental movements over the past five decades, from early efforts at conservation and protests against pollution to the tactics of Greenpeace and concerns over global climate change. The five chapters of A Fierce Green Fire feature the battle against dams in the Grand Canyon, New York’s Love Canal, radical efforts on behalf of whales, saving the Amazon rainforest, and climate change. Cast: Robert Redford, Ashley Judd, Van Jones, Isabel Allende, Meryl Streep (2012 - 119 minutes) The CIG’s Green Team and World Service Committee co-sponsor this community film series that focuses on environmental concerns from a variety of perspectives. This year, the films will be shown at 8 PM on the fourth Thursday of the month unless it clashes with a holiday. (The November film will be shown on the 3rd Thursday due to the Thanksgiving holiday.) A team member introduces the film and leads the discussion.
