Then I heard his name Stevie Wonder. Then the Lord spoke to me...Listen to the message I live in a city that God calls his sister. The name of the city true meaning means Mercy and; or, Mercedes. Its pronounced differently in different languages. Check it out on the map in CA. It is centrally located in the middle of the state. Mercy or Merced or Mercy has been one of the worst economic cities to work in for as long as I can remember. Although it has improved some. During the recession and wall-street downfall and employment was at its worse. Merced/Mercy set the record for the whole United States a few years back at 22%. I remember on day driving downtown during that time and counting all the closed businesses in a months time. I couldnt believe that 19 businesses were lost on main street alone. That was 2 years ago. I have seen some growth on main and it is beginning to look better, but there were whole areas that also was taken so new roads and bridges could be made by our government and bought out people. One business owner I knew personally and he was ready to retire but still it was sad to see Ferronis Billiards close in the name of progress but he was ready to retire. It was a place people could go and have fun and children were allowed in there. I had fun their and got to know some really nice friendly family minded people. My point is for a city that is called MERCY has been oppressed for years, even with the new U.C. its taking a beating. I see more homeless woman and children then I ever had although they have great places for some of the homeless men or women here; yet their are not facilities that allow much for children. Homeless husbands and wives are not allowed to bunk together so it plays havoc on relationships because the hardships here.We dont have a YMCA, and the Armory closed last I heard. Bed bugs are raging through this city and I know for a fact and its sad that some slum lords not only make the tenants pay for the existing infestation they split the cost with the chosen company who does the spraying and huge amount of powder and this isnt even the correct way to deal with them.(shakes head in disbelief) Merced/Mercys health dept says its not there problem. Hummm. No help there. CDC wont acknowledge anything with a skin problem lately and everyone is told its in their heads or theres nothing wrong and because of this attitude of passing it off as nothing its becoming a huge problem. Little children are being eaten by bed bugs and the families cant afford to have the eradicated. Some of the critters carry disease and worms. Just saying maybe someone doesnt want to pay the cost of this problem that has become a epidemic. Reality is its all over the world. So lets call it what it is out of control. I saw the area that is been torn down and all the businesses with it on Ashby road. A bridge and new road way. People dont understand is that people lost their homes who did not want to move. Our government is known to in my opinion to persuade and if that dont work they bully them with eviction. Mercy/Merced should be held with high regard and esteem, this include my hometown of Atwater, CA. Lets put it into simple terms that even a simple minded person would get. How would you treat the MERCY of God. The Lord impressed upon me that is sad to see such shame and pain in city(s) that have so much to give. We are also nicknamed the Gateway to Yosemite The Holy Spirit says he loves this city because its no accident our city was named Mercy. It is NOT a graveyard.
