youtu.be/CqjwsL8GNB4 So a lot of you might not know that i was a furniture maker for almost 30 years. It is a field (like the fitness business) that is predominantly dominated by men. I included this video of a very talented female furniture maker because I actually hate the fact that it has to be mentioned that she is a woman. So what does this have to do with fitness? I dont know if youve noticed but we really dont do female oriented workouts in the gym. In reality there is no such thing. Female oriented exercise is a myth. In fact I find it deeply upsetting and insulting to women and the philosophy of fitness. What would be the next step? Black fitness, gay fitness, latino fitness? Are there certain physiological strength differences between men and women? The simple answer is yes. Those differences, however, have nothing to do with the types of exercise that men and women perform. The difference is in output. Or to put it more simply in how much weight or speed or power a man can generate in comparison to a woman. But if you also havent noticed the women in our gym are some really kick ass humans and they would give most men a run for their money and in most cases kick most guys butts. So the next time youre doing a turkish get up think about how that movement has anything to do with gender? The answer should always come back.....it has nothing at all to do with gender.
