Ive had this happen to me when I voted at the Knox Council on Aging site for Center Township. I cast my vote for one person and it would immediately switch to the opposing candidate. The reason was the button for the opposing candidate was stuck, i.e. the corner of the button was caught under the board. This made the vote change to the candidate whose button was stuck, not for the candidate I voted for. At the time I was dismissed by the poll watchers. I also called the Clerks office and they declined to follow up on it saying no one else had the problem. I called WKVI and they said they wouldnt say anything because they havent heard from the Clerks office. Hmmmm. Its up to you to make sure your vote is registered correctly. I sure wish our voting machines had receipts so we could actually prove how we voted. For that matter, I wish we had a system that had a paper trail to prove the quantity of votes cast and for who. I think we need that and a tally of the total number of people voting, and then make sure the numbers add up in the end, because right now, there is no way to verify anything that comes out of that voting booth. Our voting process relies on faith to keep it honest and I dont have a lot of faith in our government right now.
