youtube/watch?v=5TDzJiK7AdQ More than a cute video, demonstrative of the inherent nature of creation. Warder Clyde Allee placed ten groups of isopods alongside ten solitary isopods, all of them on filter paper. He was able to show that the groups retained water much more successfully. Here was proof that cooperative aggregation helps isopods deal with dry environments where retention of water is crucial. If the simplest of creatures were continually aiding each other, if cooperation was the rule, then surely there was a lesson to be learned by humans? (Adapted from The Price of Altruism by Oren Harman) Perhaps less time spent on harbouring conflict and more time spent on cooperation and mutual aid?
