Vivaldi was very popular during his time but nearly forgotten after he died until the baroque revival of the 1950s where he gained prominence again as one the quintessential Baroque composers along with Bach and Handel. If you make it to the second movement it is about a herdsman sleeping in his field. The last movement is also in Ritornello form and is meant to encompass the glory of spring
