youtube/watch?v=pEKA6rmVfW8 MOVIE CLIP OF THE DAY - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011) Harry Potter is not only about magic but also about the magic of childhood, the magic of parenthood and the true magic that the movies create for us: to transport the audience to a unique and make-believe world (if only for a few fleeting moments). In order to remind us of whom we really are. Onlookers at a flickering fleeting screen that beams a light into infinity, only to have the curtain drawn at a piercing moment of exit. The older and wiser one becomes, the less and less childish these movies appear indeed. The ending to David Yates classic film not only represents the end of a cinematic era, one so filled with practical effects, post 90s CGI, the classical role call of British acting royalty (spanning over six decades of cinema). It represents how the next generation will either fail or flourish for better or for worse. However, it matters not that we followed exactly in our parents footsteps but that we ultimately forge (and decide) our own unique paths. Gifted English child actor Daniel Radcliffe grew up before our eyes. And, within the walls of the most lucrative movie series in history lies a singularly unmatched wry levity, an endlessly charming kaleidoscope of charming cinematic prose, platitudes and postulates. Histrionic English theatre and poetic visual rumpus (state-of-the-art effects and set designs that dazzled the eyes and ears). Sound design that popped off the screen with the same inspired magic of J.K. Rowlings stories. Yet even if you werent old enough (or young enough) to remember being part of Harrys singular cinematic journey; its bloody likely you caught a crisp glimpse of the magic from the corner of your eye, as you attempted ever so haplessly to hold back the tears; perhaps as your own son or daughter saw the scene for the first time: together.
