youtube/watch?v=siJiK58pXBs THE DIRTY DOZEN, BACA UNPLUGGED Yesterday when Ben and Aaron met with Ed Baca in his home, it was a “tell all”. The video is somewhat long, but AFTERALL IT IS A TELL ALL. Baca announced that City Manager Gary Esplin and Mayor McArthur have been in office for 38 and 30 years respectively and “they feel like they own the city” and are our proprietors, who can move money from project to project at will. He said it is time “to clean house,” Baca believes that by speaking out, he will hurt his chances to be elected. However, if elected, he wants an out of court settlement on the warrantless search lawsuit. If properties were searched illegally he wants restitution paid. If elected his primary concern will be to do away with corruption and a lack of transparency. He will repeal codes that need to go. He gave us a long list of abuses by McArthur, the council and the local press that we like to call the DIRTY DOZEN: 1. The council sat on its hands for a decade refusing to repeal codes it knew the citizens were fed up with. 2. The Mayor not only condoned selective enforcement, but directed it. 3. Local press refuses to print the information Baca provides them about inappropriate city conduct 4. Brock Belnap investigated McArthur for inappropriate use of government assets but did not file criminal charges at Baca’s request. 5. The City has systematically attacked the outspoken Baca for his stance on government abuses. If anyone challenges their abuses they engage in a campaign of smear. 6. Employees use the resources of their public office to run for public office 7. City officials will use their religious affiliations to silence critics. 8. The mayor appoints people to positions in government in exchange for political support 9. The mayor stifles city employees first amendment rights by placing their jobs in jeopardy if they speak out against causes he supports. 10. The Mayor has intimidated business owners to the point they won’t put up political signs for McArthur’s opponents. 11. The city council, in the past had a pact to always vote in unity. 12. Funds get spent in the city for pet projects of the mayor and his friends, not where the citizens want and need it. HERE IS THE LINK TO THE FULL INTERVIEW: youtube/watch?v=p8vrCnouj24
